Eltbux, a muscular man, about 30 years of age, was admitted into hospital on the 1st September, 1865, under the influence of liquor, with compound fracture of both bones of the left leg communicating directly with the ankle-joint on its inner aspect. The fracture of the tibia is oblique and situated at the epiphysis of the inner malleolus. The fibula is fractured transversely, about one inch and a half above the outer malleolus ; the soft parts in the neighbourhood and at the site of fracturo much bruised and swollen.
